Good, Bad And Beautiful
GOOD PART- Plastering Complete
Last Thursday - the plasterer finished all of his work
The cornices are in and all internal walls were completed.
The step cornice looks much better when it is done everywhere.
The void in the entrance is much bigger than we expected but we are not complaining
Sorry will get the photos soon.
BAD Part - Vandalised
On Wednesday night someone broke the sliding door from the Home Theatre. The 3 panels of glass on the sliding door was completely smashed.
The vandals were specific in what they damaged. Only the plaster bopards were vandalised.
So the new plastering in master bedroom and "DD" room were ripped.
Surprise was the kitchen and stairs which were in and was not damaged/vandalised. So Thank God about that.
The police were called in - It is the builders responsibility at this stage to handle and fix but causes unnecessary hasle for the builder at this stage..
Beautiful - Our Home
The house with all the internal walls is now looking like a real home.
We are starting to get the feeling of room sizes which we could not visualise at the structure stage.
It also gave us an idea of how bright the rooms where. Everything but the kitchen is very bright. The kitchen not being bright is because of the alfresco and is a bit of a disappointment. Our previous home had big cathedral ceiling/windows in the kitchen and was VERY bright and this spoilt us.
WOW 35+ sq of Glorious space for all of us - Cannot WAIT
We have not had a chance to get photos but promise to get some this week.
This evening peeped through the window. All the bathroom cabinets is in - They are missing from the family room so must be installed.
Laundry tub with benchtop is in. Saw this thro the laundry window.
"L" has mentioned end September for finishing - So YEP finally the end is in site. We have already started packing and planning and organising. We need to give 1 month notice here and settle up the house for visits from could-be tenants.

Kitchen - This is where the good things come from
"DH" went in the morning to check out whats happening at 9.30
"DW" went the same day at 4.30 and went round the house when the plasteres says "hey ur kitchen has come"
Was too shocked and what a surprise - Bare floor in the morning and an absolute work of art in the evening - This is what greeted us
We had always had concerns about the Blackwood Timber - Would it be too dark?
We did not want to spend more a nd upgrade to a more expensive wood and neither did we want Tasmanian Oak or Pine kitchen. (Buildres standard)
We were trying to create a timeless practical kitchen - we felt vinyl wrap coul dpeel off in years to come. 2 pac was too britlle. So we went down the timeless timber path. Tried our to make it as modern as possible. Guess we are showing our age :-)

Stairs - WOW
The stairs is in - It has come out much better than we expected.
After such a long time we had even forgotten what we had chosen. Worse still when we re-visited our selections we felt we had chosen the wrong style. It came as a pleasant surprise and we were delighted with the outcome including the kids
Last friday we went inside and went up and down a few times just loving it.
